Annual cross-cultural film-based contest held by ATES(April, 6, 20011)

This year 7 teams from 6 Smolensk schools participated in this exciting event. Two months in advance the Association chose the film of the year (this time it was "Mr.Holland's Opus" directed by Stephen Herek) and the teams did different film-based tasks competing for the First prize. The members of the strict jury were glad to note what great job the pupils had done to prepare for the contest. It was so pleasant to hear the pupils quoting one of the characters of the film who said: "A teacher has two jobs; fill young minds with knowledge, yes, but more important, give those minds a compass so that that knowledge doesn't go to waste." It was admitted by everyone that the phrase can be considered to be the motto for the contest!
