MELTA COORDINATIONAL COUNCIL has the honour to inform you that Franklin Electronic Publishers in cooperation with TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) is organizing a global spelling competition for students who are learners of English. Up to twelve countries - Russia, Moscow, is for the 1st time included - will participate in the 2010 Franklin Global SpellEvent, which consists of two stages.
First, a local event will be held in each participating country in April – May 2010, resulting in the selection of 1st and 2nd place winners. Up to 48 students who were not born before January 1, 1995 and are eligible to participate will take part in it. They will be included on the list on the basis of first come first served.
Second, both of these winners will travel to the U.S. for the final event in New York City in August 2010, where they will compete against the winners from other countries. The champion at the final event will receive a scholarship valued at US $10,000. You can get more information on spellevent.org site.
It’s worthwhile nominating you best student and your second best student in case the first cannot attend.
